Patricia A. “Pat” Custer, age 71, Council Bluffs, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016, at Hospice with Heart House in Glenwood. Pat was born June 5, 1945, in Harlan, Iowa, to the late Marvin and Elaine Andersen and graduated from Irwin-Kirkman High with the class of 1963. She was united in marriage to Thomas R. Custer in 1966. Pat worked as a waitress for many years, including the Pizza King for over 18 years. She recently had been working for Lewis Central Schools as their Bus Monitor. Pat was a longtime member of Broadway United Methodist Church and is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas in 2001; and son, Todd; mother and father-in-law, Marge and Ival Custer; sister-in-law, Lynne (Bob) Ross; nephew, Brett Andersen. Survivors include son, Mike Custer and wife Tanya of Gretna, Neb.; daughter, Tricia Custer of Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Mayson, Owen, and Nolan Custer; siblings and spouses, Margaret (Dennis) Backhaus of Westside, Iowa, Darlene (Tom) West of Kimballton, Iowa, Judy (Duane) Deist of Audubon, Iowa, Ed (Vickie) Andersen of Kirkman, Iowa, Joyce (Merlene) Ostebee of Audubon, Iowa; sister-in-law, Joan (Dick) Waller of Lincoln, Neb.; many nieces and nephews. . .
