Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Sioux Falls with the burial at St Michael’s Cemetery following the Mass and fellowship. Read More	Patricia Ann Taplett, age 88, passed away peacefully Friday, August 24, 2018, at Sanford USD Medical Center surrounded by her beloved family. Patricia Ann Sweeney, daughter of Hugh and Alice Sweeney, was born September 19, 1929, in Sioux Falls, SD. She was the third of five children. After graduating from St. Joseph’s Cathedral High School, she earned her B.S. degree in English from the University of Idaho and became an educator in Fairfax, MN. Patricia gave 29 years of service to Citibank retiring at age 81. She was recognized as the first service professional in Customer Service who spent ten years servicing Citibank Cardmembers in South Dakota. The bank even had a “Pat Taplett Day.” She knew everyone by name, and always had a smile and kind word for all. She cherished her time there and the countless friends and co-workers. During her tenure, she received the Citicorp Service Excellence Award and Gold Award for exemplifying the highest standard of excellence and achievement in serving Citicorp customers. Patricia married Lloyd Melvin Taplett August 21, 1958. She instantly became a mother to Lloyd’s two daughters, Virginia Olson, Sioux Falls; and Sharon Taplett-Lundgren (Don), Wentworth, SD. Together, the couple had four daughters: Carla Thomsen, Sioux Falls, SD; Carolyn Wilkins (Doug), Plymouth, MN; Catherine Taplett Allen (Doug), Harrisburg, SD; and Colleen Lunstra (Karlan), Brandon, SD. She has 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a brother Hughie (Jan), Apple Valley, MN. Patricia was a lifetime resident of Sioux Falls and was actively involved in PTA, sang in the St Lambert’s choir and was a devout Catholic. She also has a brick in the Mother’s Garden at the Cathedral. Patricia loved spending time with family and enjoyed the camaraderie and community at Stubbies where many knew her by name. She especially loved spending time at the lake with family. Patricia was proceeded in death by her husband, Lloyd M.Taplett; her sisters, Norene and Margaret; her brother, Robert; and her parents. - Miller Funeral Home
