Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora. The Rev. Chris Kester Beyer will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Patricia Carol Hunter, the daughter of Godfrey and Amanda Anna Alberta (Henning) Bauer, was born at home in Crete, Neb., on Aug. 12, 1936, and passed away in Aurora, Neb., on Sept. 16, 2013, at the age of 77. Patricia grew up in Syracuse. She worked as a secretary for the Rural Electric Association in Syracuse and as a legal secretary for Armstrong & McKnight Law Firm in Auburn. After her marriage, Lawrence managed dry cleaning plants in Omaha, Columbus and Fremont before purchasing his own on the square in Aurora in 1967. Patricia worked beside her husband at Hunter Cleaners. She also worked as an executive secretary for the Aurora Co-op, in the Treasurer's Office at the County Court House and at Aurora Telemarketing. They retired from Hunter Cleaners in 2000. Lawrence passed away on Oct. 21, 2007. She married her husband, Lawrence Alan Hunter, on Sept. 12, 1956, at Luther Memorial Church in Syracuse, Neb. She was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora. Patricia was a member of the Ladies Aid, a Girl Scout leader, PTA (Parent Teacher Association) president, Aurora Chamber of Commerce, Fireman's Auxiliary and Bible Study. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, playing cards, baking, photo albums, genealogy, spending time with family, attending grandchildren's activities, and spending time at their lakeside cabin at Willow Bend Lake near Central City. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, twin great-grandsons, numerous cousins and other relatives. Survivors of the immediate family include her two sons, Mark J. Hunter of Lincoln and Michael L. (Kelly) Hunter of Aurora; a daughter, Marsha L. (Kenneth) Hansen of Hampton; her grandchildren, Jeffrey L. (Brandi) Hansen of Hampton, Matthew L. (Megan) Hansen of Hampton, Laurice L. Hansen of Overland Park, Kan., Ryan M. Hunter, Rachel A. Hunter, Alex M. Hunter and Jeremy A. Hunter, all of Aurora; stepgrandson, Kyle (MiKayle) Ehlers of Hastings and two great-grandchildren, Raegan L. Hansen and Landen J. Hansen, both of Hampton and a third on the way. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Norma Jean Nisely of Syracuse, two brothers-in-law, Harold Kuenning of Lincoln and Donald Goos of Sterling, Colo., and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
