Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island. Reverend Caroline Price-Gibson will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the Hickman Cemetery at Hickman, Nebraska. All Faiths Funeral Home. is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include a brother, William (Donna) Lindgren of Gering, NE; sister, Judith Gaines of Appleton, WI; nieces, Sarah (LaMont) Dalke, Jennifer (Tracy) Bates both of Appleton, WI; nephews, William Lindgren of Gering, NE, David Lindgren of Greybull, WY, Andrew Lindgren of Cheyenne, WY, Daniel Lindgren of Ketchikan, AK, Thomas Lindgren of Ketchikan, AK, Samuel Gaines of Appleton, WI and Matthew Gains of Israel and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert who died in 2009 and her parents. Pat graduated from Grand Island Senior High class of 1950. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduating in 1954. She received a National Science Foundation Fellowship and attended the University of Oregon for post graduate work; receiving her Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Purdue University. On June 12, 1956 she married Donald J. Winkler. Later she married Robert Wissel on June 12, 1967. They made their home in Grand Island. Pat taught high school math in York, Lincoln and Grand Island. In 1973 she and Bob purchased Lebensraum Retirement Center from her parents. They started the business in 1954. In 1979 she became co-owner and manager of Wedgewood Care Center along with her friend Jan Thayer. She later sold her portion to concentrate on Lebensraum. She managed Lebensraum until her retirement in 2004 when they sold the company. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church and PEO Chapter EH. Pat was very involved in the Nebraska Health Care Association and was instrumental in developing regulations for Assisted Living facilities in Nebraska. She loved gardening, and took pride in the beautiful gardens at her home and Lebensraum. She was an avid Husker fan and especially loved women’s volleyball and basketball.
