Patricia Elenore VerSteeg was born on September 9, 1941, to Bert and Cornelia (Schrier) VerSteeg in Hancock, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm. After high school she attended Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. Patricia was joined in marriage to Robert Lee Pollema Sr., on December 29, 1964, at the Hancock Christian Reformed Church. The couple moved to Hull, Iowa where she worked at the Hull Christian Grade School. She later worked for the Hull Index Reporter newspaper and Dordt College. Over the years, she was a member of the Hull First Christian Reformed Church, Faith Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center and the Sioux Center United Reformed Church. She enjoyed singing in the church choir. In her retirement years, Patricia volunteered with Justice For All. She also volunteered at Kinsey Elementary as a classroom "grandma" where she would read with students. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, reading, camping and traveling. She is survived by her two sons: Bob and Mary Beth Pollema of Sioux Center and Brent and Karmen Pollema of Holland, Michigan; five grandchildren: Noah, Micah, Anneka, Isaac and Lydia Pollema. She was preceded by her parents, Bert and Cornelius Ver Steeg; her husband, Robert Pollema Sr and a sister, JoAnn Van Eps.
