Pat died Monday, February 14, 2011, at Willapa Harbor Care Center in Raymond, WA. Patricia Joan Bates, daughter of Harold and Leona (Siebrecht) Bates was born April 30, 1933 in Webster, SD. She grew up and graduated from Webster High School, and worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell. She was united in marriage to Clifford W. Maunu on August 18, 1957. They farmed in the Frederick area for 23 years until moving to Newberg, Oregon. In 1985 they moved to Raymond, Washington, where they owned and operated the Maunu's Mt. Castle Motel until they retired in 2008. Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her whole life revolved around her family. Pat had a good sense of humor and loved to make people smile. Her faith was important to her and she was an inspiration to those who knew her. She had a generous heart and found happiness in thinking of others. Grateful to have shared in her life are her husband, Clifford, two daughters, Colleen (Verne) Little of Aberdeen and Connie (Jim) Craker of Shelton, WA, one son, Curtis Maunu of Raymond, WA, one sister, Emma (Jack) Holm of Eagan, MN, five brothers, Grant Bates and Gary (Barb) Bates, both of Miller, SD, Maurice (Roberta) Bates of Asheville, NC, Morris (Pat) Bates of Homer, NE and Charles (Georgia) Bates of Puyallup, WA, seven grandchildren, Chad, Jared, Nathan, Joelle, Aaron, Alex and Alyssa and four great-grandchildren, Katie, Levi, Alivia and Collin. Her parents and one brother, George Bates preceded her in death. Casketbearers will be Chad Little, Jared Little, Nathan Little, Aaron Craker, Alex Maunu and Gary Bates.
