She passed away suddenly February 4, 2011 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 27 days. She was baptized in the Methodist Church in Lynch. She graduated from Lynch High School in 1955. Pat was united in marriage to Dean Soulek on July 22, 1955 and together they had four children, Michelle, Dawn, Brian, and Devrie. After the passing of her husband, Dean, she moved back to her home town, Lynch, NE where she owned and operated a local cafe. This is where she met and later married Duane Ehlers on November 19, 1965. This marriage brought together two families, Pat's four, Duane's three; John, Dawn, and Sally and later the birth of two sons, Ted and Ty. In 1967, Pat, Duane, and family relocated from Lynch to Nelson. Pat operated a cafe, worked at the Sportsman's Corner, and later became an insurance agent. As an insurance agent, she especially enjoyed meeting and working with the farming communities. She was a great supporter of many activities in the Nelson area including the Rebekah Lodge, PEO, Community Club, and the Nelson Variety Show. She served as the Pep Club/Cheerleader sponsor and held a variety of offices in the church. One activity close to her heart was the American Cancer Society's Daffodil sales. Pat enjoyed attending high school activities while her children were in high school, however, she did not stop there. She continually supported and sponsored high school sports, theater, and the arts within the surrounding communities. Duane describes some of her favorite past times as dancing, music, reading, and coffee with friends. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and a granddaughter, Michelle Ehlers. Survivors include her husband, Duane; children: Michelle Soulek Perkins & husband Greg of Springfield, MO; Dawn Soulek Miller & husband Larry of Nelson; Brian Soulek & wife Sharon of Charlestown, IN; Devrie Soulek Hahn & husband Brian of Addison, TX; John Ehlers & wife Kathy of Octavia, NE; Dawn Ehlers Griffith of Stromsburg, NE; Sally Ehlers Kramer & husband John of Schuyler, NE; Ted Ehlers & wife Marcia of Chapman, KS and Ty Ehlers & wife Michelle (Shelly) of Chesapeake, VA; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren as well as one brother, Kenny & wife, Karen Crooks of Lynch, and one sister, Linda & husband, Floyd Tucker of Nelson. She is also survived by Duane's brother, Arlan & wife, Darlene of Glenwood, IA, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson with Rev. Dr. Stephen Berry officiating. Pallbearers were Joshua Hahn, Lance Perkins, Brent Miller, Bryce Miller, Dean Soulek, Josh Griffith and Chase Ehlers. Honorary Pallbearers were Austin Griffith, Nash Ehlers and Corbin Hahn. Inurnment was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Nelson Community Club Scholarship Program.
