She worked for 17 ½ years at the Des Moines Public Library as a clerk before retiring in 1986 to be a stay-at-home mother. Over the years, she became “mom” to many people. Patricia’s daughter, Catherine, was her life and she loved her daughter dearly. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Stokes, her parents, George and Gladys Bowers, and her brother, Alvie L. Bowers.
