Porter, 81, of Clinton, died Thursday at his home. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Schultz, Mark Petersen, Chris, David and Joe Rixen and Donald Horst. He was born Jan. 5, 1926, in Missouri Valley to Patrick Henry and Fannie Bishop Porter. He married Regina Rixen in 1958 in Clinton; she died in 1999. He graduated from the Morrison (Ill.) Institute of Technology. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was employed with International Paper until 1965 when they moved to Boulder, Colo. He worked as a draftsman for the University of Colorado, Boulder, and as a draftsman in Rocky Flats, Colo., until retiring. He and his wife moved back to Clinton in 1993. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Genevieve Petersen and Mrs. Virginia (Lloyd) Mether, both of Clinton; 17 stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren; one step son-in-law, Robert (Paula) Schultz of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.
