Description	:	Patrick Doran, who owns one of the fine farms of Union township, in the operation of which he is meeting with much success, was born in Edgerton, Wisconsin, a son of Patrick and Mary (Pendergast) Doran. The parents were both natives of Ireland, the father having been born in County Tipperary and the mother in County Waterford. The boyhood of Pat was passed on his father's farm in Wisconsin. Read More	Patrick Doran, who owns one of the fine farms of Union township, in the operation of which he is meeting with much success, was born in Edgerton, Wisconsin, a son of Patrick and Mary (Pendergast) Doran. The parents were both natives of Ireland, the father having been born in County Tipperary and the mother in County Waterford. The boyhood of Pat was passed on his father's farm in Wisconsin. He was 16yrs. old when his parents removed to Iowa in 1877, and he has ever since continuously resided here. He now owns 160 acres of land on section 12, Union township, a portion of which he inherited after the death of his father. His place is well improved and kept up and his fields given the capable supervision which always insures abundant harvests. On Nov. 26, 1885, Mr. Doran married Miss Agnes Egan, a daughter of John and Hannah (Martin) Egan, both natives of Ireland, from which country they emigrated to the United States, locating in Green county, Wisconsin. There they both passed away, the mother at the age of 71, and the father at 86. They were the parents of nine children : Catharine ; Maria ; Patrick, who is deceased ; Celia ; Margaret ; Hannah ; John ; Nellie ; and Agnes, now Mrs. Doran, who was born in Green county, WI. Mr. and Mrs. Doran have eight children : 1. Mabel, b. 14 Feb. 1887, wed Edward Croake, who has one son, Harold; 2. James Harold, b. 25 Oct. 1888, who is proving up on a claim in Tama and Meade counties, S. D.; 3. William Joseph, b. 02 March 1891, wed Rose Tierney on 31 Jan. 1912; 4. Alice Mary, b. 01 Jan. 1893, wed Ray C. Clark on 06 Dec. 1919; 5. Grace Agnes, b. 05 July 1895, wed Dee D. Smith on 04 Jan. 1922; 6. Helen T., b. 01 Dec. 1898; 7. John Patrick, b. 28 April 1901 8. Frances Cecelia, b. 03 Apr 1903, wed Harvey Atha on 17 June 1925. All of the family are communicants of the Roman Catholic church, and Mr. Doran and two of his sons are affiliated with the Knights of Columbus. Patrick is one of the popular citizens of Union township whose upright business transactions and incorruptible integrity have won him the esteem of all with whom he has had dealings. In the 1940 census, widowed Patrick was living with his sister, Margaret Christy, and her daughter.
