(Special to The Argus) Aledo, Ill, Oct 12 - Relatives of Patrick Reedy, 72, of Dunlap, Iowa, were notified yesterday of his death, which occurred Thursday morning at the home of his son, Ressa, in that city. Mr. Reedy was a resident of Preemption township several years. He was born in Davenport [Iowa] but spent the early part of his life in the home of the late Mrs. Susan Conway,* four miles south of Reynolds. He was married to Miss Catherine Crumbley of Reynolds, who died several years ago. Three Sons, John of Aledo, Ressa of Dunlap, Iowa and Frank of Los Angeles, Calif. and two daughters, Mrs Pearl [Earl] Allen or Waterloo [Iowa] and Sally, address unknown, survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday and burial will be at Dunlap. Research indicates Susan's maiden name was O'Connor and her first husband was Joseph O'Day who died in 5 Dec 1864 with whom she had children Michael O'Dea born 1862 in County Clare, Ireland and died in 1940, and James O'Day born 1864 IL and died 1865. Most likely Joseph O'Dea is related in some way to Patrick Reedy's mother, Ann O'Dea Reedy. Three years prior to her marriage to Patrick Reedy, she and her infant daughter, Mary Rilley are enumerated in 1900 Highland, Wapello Co, IA as inmates at the County Farm and Infirmary. In 1910 the family is in Highland, Wapello, IA and 1915 Little Sioux, Woodbury Co, IA. By 1920 Patrick can not be found but Theressa Reedy and daughter Mary are in Guthrie, Logan Co, OK. Regarding Mary, the daughter of Theressa Rilley, she applied for a Delayed Iowa Birth Record in 1946 and listed Patrick Reedy as her father. This is doubtful as she was born three years before marriage and Patrick's obituary does not list her as a daughter. Mary Beatrice Reedy married Gus Courtney in 1921 Oklahoma and had four children. Social Security applications by three of those children list Mary's maiden name as either Hill, Roland or Reedy. Mary Courtney was born on 17 Aug 1899 in Wapello Co IA and died 1 Dec 1980 after a car accident in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Theressa Reedy returned to Ottumwa, Wapello Co, IA by 1929 and died there in 1932.
