She was born June 18, 1940, in Barnesville, daughter of the late Alva George Cook and Hallie Olive (Hall) Cook. Ms. Ward was a 1959 graduate of Barnesville High School. She was a member of Old Washington United Methodist Church, a former worship leader, member of the United Methodist Women and the church choir. Ward, 71, of Lore City, passed away Thursday (May 17, 2012) at Southeastern Med in Cambridge. She was born June 18, 1940, in Barnesville, daughter of the late Alva George Cook and Hallie Olive (Hall) Cook. Ms. Ward was a 1959 graduate of Barnesville High School. She was a member of Old Washington United Methodist Church, a former worship leader, member of the United Methodist Women and the church choir. She was also a member of Gibson Homemakers Club and a former singer with the Sweet Adeline group. She worked at Kroger for 23 years in the deli department. She leaves the father of her children; a daughter, and three sons; two brothers, nine grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and two stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha M. Cook; and three brothers, Carl, Donald and Delbert Cook. Visitation will be Saturday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will follow at 8 p.m. Burial will take place in Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, at a later date.
