Paul is also survived by his loving companion of 32 years, Leticia (Letty) Forbes; by his sons, David Lewis (Patty) Yates and Jonathan Paul Yates; and by his grandchildren, David Paul (Courtney), Christopher (Michelle), Jonathan, Jessica (his princess), and greatgranddaughter Harper. He is also survived by his former wife, Joan Yates; his brother-in-law, Jake (Rosemary) Shepherd; and his first cousins, Phil (Bobbi) Yates and Doug Yates. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces/nephews, who loved him very much. Paul was generous, gregarious and loved his family, friends and life in general. He was a graduate of Luray High School and Ben Franklin University. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. His long work career was in securities in the D.C. area and he retired in 1999 from Ginnie Mae after 24 years of service. He grew up in Luray, Va., and lived most of his adult life in Crofton, Md., where he made lasting friendships and was well known for years as "Captain Pumpkin" in the annual parade. He loved his childhood friends and enjoyed attending high school reunions in Luray. He was a true friend and would help anyone who needed him. He was a wonderful son, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. After the sudden, early death of his big brother Lewis, Paul became the rock for his family and during each happy and sad event, Paul was right there either cheering on or comforting whoever needed it. He was a man who lived life to the fullest. When his grandchildren were growing up, he never missed any event in which they were participating; they were truly his joys.
