Dobbins, 82, formerly of 1233 Leadmine Road, Gaffney, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Brookview Healthcare. Born in Cherokee County, S.C. he was the husband of Daisy Peeler Dobbins and son of the late Reverend Paul B. Dobbins, Sr. and Ethel Brannon Dobbins. Mr. Dobbins was retired from Vulcan Materials after 42 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. He served as deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, Training Union Director and Sunday School Director. He labored on the church grounds untiringly. He was chairman of Park Hills Baptist Church Building Committee. The only book he ever read through in its entirety was the Bible, which he read daily. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mike Dobbins and wife, Jaymie of Gaffney; a daughter, Jeannie Rhyne and husband, Ric of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Eric Dobbins, Katie Clopton and husband Brandon, and Josh Rhyne; two great-grandchildren, Ian and Joseph Clopton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard Dobbins and Raymond Dobbins; a sister, Gyneta Pettit; and a granddaughter, Emily Caroline Rhyne. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bob Finley and Reverend Alan Peeler officiating. Interment will be private. The family will be at the home of Ric and Jeannie Rhyne, 1307 Leadmine Road. An online guest register is available at www.blakelyfuneralhome.com.
