Read More	son of Henry Nicholas and Edith May (Callaghan) Kemp Paul Clement Kemp, 83, died July 26, 2014, in Lexington, Ky., of pulmonary hypertension and leukemia. Paul was born in Waterloo on Feb. 9, 1931, to the late Henry Nicholas Kemp and Edith May Callaghan. He was raised in Waterloo and graduated from Waterloo West High school. Paul was born in Waterloo on Feb. 9, 1931, to the late Henry Nicholas Kemp and Edith May Callaghan. He was raised in Waterloo and graduated from Waterloo West High school. He then attended the University of Iowa, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, and was a member of the football team, receiving a BA in January 1954 and MA in August 1956. He entered the U.S. Army in 1954, serving two years while stationed in Fort Benning, Ga., and Fort Carson, Colo. Paul married Ila Beth Larsen in June 1953. They were married for 39 years, divorcing in 1992. Paul coached football, basketball and baseball at North Dakota State Teachers College and Ball State University early in his coaching career and then coached football at Arizona State University, Iowa State University, University of Pittsburgh, Boston University, and returned to coach at the University of Iowa 1977-79. He also was a pro football scout for the Atlanta Falcons for one year. He moved to Fort Myers, Fla., for four years only to return to Iowa City, his alma mater, to live the next 31 years until moving to Lexington for his final seven months of life. Survivors include his daughters, Michelle (Harry) Kemp Moore of Lexington, Melinda (Chris) Kemp Greely of Bridgewater, Mass., and Melissa (Oscar) Kemp David of Winnetka, Ill.; his grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer (Stephen) Moore Brandstetter and Nicholas Moore, Michael (Melanie) Greely and Caitlin (Matthew) Greely Osgood and Nicholas, Amanda and Bethany David; his great-grandchildren, Elise and Jackson Greely; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Alice Kemp, Clementine Kemp Jeffries and Berenice Kemp Patton; and his brothers, Edward Kemp and Clarence Kemp. Services and burial will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Iowa City, on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 10:30 a.m.
