Paul was born on March 29, 1965 in Bay City, MI to Joseph & Alice (Schwerin) Backus. Paul appreciated his job as the Mt. Forest Township Supervisor and strived to make his community a better place. He enjoyed coin collecting, skeet shooting, snowmobiling and working closely with the area farmers. Paul was born on March 29, 1965 in Bay City, MI to Joseph & Alice (Schwerin) Backus. Paul appreciated his job as the Mt. Forest Township Supervisor and strived to make his community a better place. He enjoyed coin collecting, skeet shooting, snowmobiling and working closely with the area farmers. Always a man of His word, "Camel" will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Paul was survived by his father, 2 brothers and 2 sisters; Kristie Backus, of Escanaba, MI, Joe F. Backus of Standish, MI, Stephanie Young and Friend Tom Simpkins of Rhodes, MI, Twin brother Jeff Backus & friend Kristy Dehate of Rhodes, MI, two nephews Corey and Joshua Young, many aunts, uncles, cousins as well as a close circle of friends. Paul was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Alice Backus; Grandparents Myrtle and Henry Schwerin, Monica and George Backus . Funeral Services: St. Mary's Catholic Church with Pastor Reed Schroer presiding with burial in St. Mary's Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
