Description	:	Paul E. King, 93, of Ottumwa, died at December 6, 2014, at Hospice House. He was born July 11, 1921, to Goel and Irene King. He married the great love of his life, Marie Beall, on March 10, 1940. They were inseparable during their 66-year marriage. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2006. He was born July 11, 1921, to Goel and Irene King. He married the great love of his life, Marie Beall, on March 10, 1940. They were inseparable during their 66-year marriage. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2006. Paul served in the Field Artillery in the U.S. Army during World War II and the National Guard before and after the war. He worked for Sunray DX, advancing to Division Manager and Schlunz & Son Inc. for 38 years. He was a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion for more than 65 years, B.P.O. Elks Lodge #347 and Ottumwa Evening Lions Club. Paul had a sharp memory even at the age of 93. He loved to talk daily about politics, world events and every other subject under the sun. He could recall in detail with growing up on the family farm, the Great Depression and humorous stories about his children when they were young. Paul loved boating and fishing on the Des Moines River, where the family had a cabin for many years. He enjoyed spending time with Misty, his special cat. Paul was proud of his independence at his age. He appreciated all the help that was extended to him as he approached his final days. He will be remembered as a kind and loving gentleman by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis Palmer of Ottumwa; a son Monte (Karen) King of Tomball, Texas; many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Duane King; and a brother, Max King. Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Gary Brooks officiating. Military services will be conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church.
