Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Nazarene in Grand Island. The Rev. Dominic Pecoraro will officiate. Burial will be in the Wood River Cemetery near Wood River. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday with family receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Mr. Versaw was born on June 9, 1916, to Paul E. and Wanda Mae (Harr) Versaw Sr. at Bloomington. He grew up in the Bloomington area and attended school in rural Furnas County near Beaver City. He married Fern McDaniel on April 24, 1939, at Ainsworth. They farmed in the sandhills southwest of Ainsworth before moving to the Wood River area in 1949. He worked for a number of different farmers until 1963. He then began working for the Thelen Grain Company of Wood River. He remained with them full time until his retirement in 1981. He continued to work part-time until last spring. He and his wife moved to Grand Island in 1984. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in April. He loved to farm and work with horses and tractors, and in later years his garden. He also loved to travel. He was a long-time member of the Church of Nazarene, most recently in Grand Island. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Robert Versaw of Earlsboro, Okla., Francis Versaw of Black Forrest, Colo., Gene Versaw and Paul Versaw, both of Lincoln, and Duane Versaw of Grand Island; one daughter, Helen (Mrs. Marvin) Winstryg of Steele, N.D., and one foster daughter, Debbie Dembrowski of Grand Island; 22 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one foster grandchild; five great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Versaw of Lincoln and Dean Versaw of Cambridge, Ohio; and two sisters, Barbara (Mrs. Oliver) Pouge of Mayor, Ariz., and Wanda (Mrs. Don) Krien of Portland, Ore.
