Reineke, 87, died at 2:10 p.m. Dec. 29, 2010, at St. Rita's Medical Center, following a brave year-long battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Wapakoneta, to Henry J. and Bertha B. Paul Reineke, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 18, 1947, he married Shirley Ann Glick, who died Sept. 19, 1984. On Aug. 10, 1985, he married Shirley M. Caughman, who survives in Lima. Mr. Reineke was a 1941 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Wapakoneta. He entered the Army Air Force in 1942 and was honorably discharged as a technical sergeant in 1946. Following his discharge, he sold insurance with State Farm. He then was a parts manager at Langhorst Buick, Sidney. He co-owed and operated Paul?s Texaco and Shirley?s Marathon gas stations, in Wapakoneta. In 1975, he began teaching as an automotive instructor at Northwestern Business College, retiring in 1986. His hobbies included wine and beer making, woodworking, photography, painting, playing cards, e-mailing and creating greeting cards on the computer, and spending time with his family. He was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, and was currently a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, Lima. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445 in Wapakoneta, the American Legion Post 96 in Lima, the Military of Cooties, Pup Tent 6, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Lima, and the Knights of Columbus, Council 1272, Wapakoneta. Survivors also include two daughters, Anne E. Randy Johnston, and Paula S. John Anderson, both of Wapakoneta; a son, Bruce E. Kathy Reineke, of Gainesville, Va.; three grandsons, Jamison M. Tracy Anderson and Scott M. Anderson, both of Wapakoneta, and Cody A. Kara Sharp, of St. Marys; two granddaughters, Mandy E. Parsons and Jennifer A. Anderson, both of Wapakoneta; five great-grandchildren, Gavin M. Bailey, Tyler A. Sharp, Katelyn R. Sharp, Jacob A. Sharp and Harrison M. Anderson, all of Wapakoneta; a stepson, Michael Victoria Rumer, of Lima; a stepdaughter-in-law, Linda Rumer, of Bluffton; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth George Hostetler, of Bluffton; a sister, Laura Mae Cliff Rison, of Lima; six step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Paul Reineke, who died Jan. 1, 1996, and a stepson, Daniel Rumer. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Father Joy Poonoly will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445, Wapakoneta Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel, where a parish wake service, officiated by Deacon Richard Westbay, will begin at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Gerard Catholic Church.
