Paul E. Allen, a retired farmer from Onslow died September 4 at the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, following a brief illness. Paul Edwin Allen was born Feb. 14, 1918 at Monticello, the son of Matthew and Ursula Guyan Allen. He received his education in the Monticello schools where he graduated in 1936. He then worked on the family farm. Paul E. Allen and Eunice Kuhns were married August 7, 1940 at the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello. The couple farmed most all their married life near Onslow. They retired and lived on the farm for several years before moving to Monticello in November 1988. Paul rejoined the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello in August 1989. He had been a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Onslow, where he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher. Paul has also been active in farm-related activities. He served on the Beef Board, the Farm Service Board and had been a 4-H leader Paul is survived by his wife, a son, Rick Allen of champaign, IL, and a daughter, Karen Walters of Bannockburn, IL; two grandsons and two sisters, Helen Eby of Monticello, and Bernice allen of Scotch Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Honorary bearers were Bruce Reade and Orvin Yeoman. Casketbearers were Melvin Hein, Glenn Hein, Paul Rieniets, Ray Rieniets, Richard Dietiker and Harvey Hinrichs. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of the arrangements.
