Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Benton, with the Rev. Richard Lenarz officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Epworth, Iowa. He married Margaret Temperly on July 8, 1983. He grew up in Epworth, and later moved to Bellevue, Iowa, Dubuque and the East Dubuque, Ill., area. He had lived in Benton for the past 15 years. While living in Bellevue, he operated Paul's Drive-In, and for the last 30 years Paul was employed at Metz Baking Co., Dubuque, formerly known as Trausch Baking Co. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Benton, the National Management Association, the Izaak Walton League and was a trustee on the Benton Village Board. Paul loved gardening, playing golf, home canning, and cooking - especially grilling out. He was an avid reader of newspapers and Reader's Digest books. He was a hard worker. Paul was a devoted husband, father and brother. His family was very important to him. Surviving are his wife, Margaret, of Benton; a daughter, Lauri Zalaznik, of Pecatonica, Ill.; a son, Paul Zalaznik, of Lisle, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Jayne Temperly, of Benton, and Jean (Michael) O'Keefe, of Cedarburg; a granddaughter, Ally O'Keefe; four sisters, Susan (Edward) Kramer, of Dyersville, Iowa, Margaret (Peter) Eldridge, of Marshalltown, Iowa, Mary Ellen (Bill) Smith, of Naperville, Ill., and Kathleen (Jerry) Lukan, of Marshalltown; five brothers, Daniel (Vicki) Zalaznik, of Allen, Texas, Steven (Sandra) Zalaznik, of Epworth, David (Jolene) Zalaznik, of Morton, Ill., Alan Zalaznik, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Michael (Lori) Zalaznik, of Carriere, Miss.; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, numerous friends; and his beloved dog, Duchess.
