Paul entered the United States Army during the Korean War on December 1, 1952, and was honorably discharged on November 9, 1954. Paul was stationed in Germany and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. Paul farmed with his father in the Platte Center area.
