Read More	CLINTON COUNTY FARMER, WELL KNOWN IN COMMUNITY, SUCCUMBS Maquoketa, Ia., Feb. 11--Paul Schmidt, aged 88 years, for four decades a resident of this community, died last 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon in his home here after a brief illness. He was born March 18, 1804, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and came to this country in 1865, settling in Davenport where he married Margaret Carstens that year. Six years later they moved to Clinton county on a farm south of Maquoketa where they resided until 24 years ago when they retired and came to this city where had since resided. Mrs. Schmidt preceded her husband in death December, 1918. Two sons also preceded the father in death. The surviving family includes five daughters: Mrs. Emma Severin, Long Grove; Mrs. J. G. Palmer, Kasson, Minn.; Mrs. F. G. Forcey, De Witt; Mrs. D. G. Christensen, Elwood; Anna, at home; a son, Louis, Charlotte; and a grandson, George Schmidt, who has been reared in the Schmidt home since his parents' death.
