Read More	Source: Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, Iowa – Thursday, November 5, 1933 PAUL MARQUIS MILLER – Paul Marquis Miller, son of Paul Miller and Catherine Jones Miller was born in Cashockton county, Ohio, June 4, 1854. At the age of 18 months his parents immigrated to Benton county, Iowa, making the journey with an ox team. Here he grew up to manhood and on April 4, 1878, he was united in marriage to Martha Elizabeth Greenwood, who preceded him in death on June 4, 1923. To this union four children were born. Bernice, now wife of Howard E. King of Spencer; Bernard, who resides on a farm near Spirit Lake; John, of Paton, Iowa, and Paul E. Miller of Aberdeen, SD., who survives him. Mrs. Miller also leaves seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. After his marriage Mr. Miller followed the farming profession in Benton county until the year 180 when he with his wife and family moved west, buying a farm in Clay county near Spencer, where they were one of the early pioneers. Helping to improve the country and by hard work he was enabled to retire from the farm. In the fall of 1905 Mr. and Mrs. Miller retired from the farm buying them a home in Spencer, where they resided until death of Mrs. Miller. On September 14, 1928, Mr. Miller was married to Melissa Neff at Orleans, Iowa, where they resided until his death which occurred on October 24, when both Mr. and Mrs. Miller were instantly killed by their automobile being struck by a Rock Island train. Mr. Miller was a member of the Congregational church of Spencer, he transferred his membership to the Presbyterian church at Spirit Lake, after moving to Orleans. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah lodges of Spirit Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Miller were buried in the family lot in Riverside cemetery in Spencer.
