He was born March 6, 1916, in Cherokee County to Paul and Suzie Zwahlen Draeger. He attended rural Columbus schools. He married Letha Faye Hanks on Sept. 16, 1934 at Galena, Kansas. She survives of the home. Mr. Draeger was a farmer and bricklayer. He also worked in the lead and zinc mines and for P & M Coal Company. Additional survivors include two sons, Carter Ray and Richard Lee Draeger, both of Columbus, Kansas; two sisters, Goldie Wilcox of Columbus, and Anna Lou Terrill of Joplin, Mo, four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Bertha Draeger, Cozy Martin, and Ray Draeger. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McKee Cemetery, rural Hallowell, with the Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. The casket will remain closed. Arrangemens are under the direction of the Murdock Funeral Home, Columbus, KS.
