Description	:	Paul Sorensen was born Sept. 1, 1849 in Stuberup, Lolland, Denmark. He came to America in 1869 and lived first one year in Minnesota, and about two years in Chicago and came to Howard county in 1872 and homesteaded the place which has since been his home. In 1878 he married Miss Ane Sine Marie Jensen, who with nine children mourns his loss. He died very sudden from heart disease Saturday night. We have personally known Mr. Sorensen since in 1872 and know he was a good man and our sentiments are as written by Mrs. A. F. Sorensen in the following Obituary: Mr. Paul Sorensen, whose home was one mile northeast of Nysted, died very suddenly last Saturday evening aged 63 years. Mr. Sorensen came to this country in the 70s and homesteaded the piece of land upon which he died. Eleven children have blessed his home, nine are living and two have preceded him to that great beyond. Mr. Sorensen was a kind husband, an affectionate father, a good neighbor and a respected citizen. A large concourse of people gathered at the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Pedersen of Dannebrog conducting the services. Interment was made in the Nysted cemetery. (Personal reflection and poem followed.) The Dannebrog News, February 29, 1912, page 5, transcribed by Linda Berney ----------------------------------------- Paul Sorensen, one of the pioneers of Howard county, died at his home in the Nysted neighborhood Sunday, heart failure being the cause of his death. Mr. Sorensen landed in this county some forty years ago and took a homested, and lived on same until his death. He was about 62 years old. He married Sine Jensen On Feb. 18,1879 in St. Paul, Nebraska. In this union there were 11 children. Emmanuel, Ethel, Walter, Ella Sorensen Hansen, Annie b. Sorensen Johansen, Holger, Eddie, Violet Sorensen Rasmussen, Soren, Paul, and George.
