Read More	The following obituary was provided by Find A Grave member jbpfab (#47363886): Dyersville Commercial April 1,1926 Remains of Paul Steger at Rest Funeral Held Last Saturday Morning At 9:00 O’Clock To St. Francis Church Many Relatives From Out Of The City Were Present At The Funeral The funeral of the late Mr. Paul Steger, of whose death mention was made in last week’s issue of the Commercial was held last Saturday morning at 9:30 o’clock from his late home west of Dyersville to St. Francis church where requiem mass was sung for the repose of his soul by Rev. Father Weihl, after which his remains were laid to rest in St. Francis cemetery, beside those of his wife. The pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased, Messrs. Fred Scheyer, Rudolph Steger, Alfred Steger, Arthur Trumm, Erwin Steger, and Walter Steger. Among the relatives present from out-of-town at the funeral were Mrs. Anton Scheyer, son Fred and daughter Eva, Mr. Frank Schlickmann, son Leander, daughters Cordelia, and Carmaletta, Dubuque, Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Steger, Hopkinton, Mr. and Mrs. Muligan, Dubuque, Walter Steger, Norcross, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Edw. Travers, Dubuque, Wm. Kasper, Dubuque, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Meisenberg, Dubuque; Anton Muehl, Independence, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Hunt, Hopkinton; Mr. and Mrs. Nic Konzen, Greely; Joe Lasche, Worthington. Matt Steger, Newell, Ia.; Joe Steger, Adrain, Minn., Mr. Paul Steger was born on the family homestead west of Dyersville, on November 19, 1871, and was 54 years, 4 months and 4 days old when death claimed him. He spent practically all of his life in this vicinity and was educated in the rural and St. Francis schools of Dyersville. After completing his school course he followed the pursuits of farming and was very successful. On February 27, 1906, deceased was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Schlickelman in St. Francis church, of this city, Very Rev. Father Warning officiating. After their marriage they settled down to housekeeping on the farm 5 ½ miles west of Dyersville, where they lived continuously. The happy wedded life of the young couple was soon cast into a shadow of darkness when death claimed Mrs. Steger, one year later, and left him and one son Richard to battle the trials of life. Besides his son Richard, he is survived by the following brothers and sisters; Matt Steger, of Newell, Ia.; Andrew, of Dyersville, Joe of Adrain, Minn.; Mrs. A. Scheyer, of Dubuque, Herman, of Dyersville, and Elizabeth, Mrs. Frank Trumm. Two brothers, Mike of Norcross, Minn.; John of Dyersville and one sister, Mrs. H. Hense preceded him in death. Mr. Steger was one of the highly esteemed residents of Eastern Delaware and Western Dubuque county, and one of the progressive and enterprising young farmers. He has been very successful as an agriculturist, and was the owner of one of the finest farms in Delaware county. He was a kind and congenial neighbor, and was held in high regard by all who knew him. He was a consistent member of the Catholic church, and lived strictly in accord with it’s teachings. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to the only surviving son and also his sisters and brothers who are left to mourn his loss.
