He was born in Lanark, IL on September 2, 1912, and attended school there and at Rockford, IL. During his school years, he delivered news papers by bicycle. Later he worked at a service station. Paul and his mother came to Lake Chelan in 1929, to visit relatives. An uncle, Charles Lafferty, owned the Pleasant Beach Resort and Lafferty's Boat Building and Repair. Paul worked in the service station there, which later became Pat & Mike's. At times, he worked with his uncle in the boat shop. A love of boats and boating developed. After several years, he began a career in orcharding. In time, he became a foreman for Foster-Schultz Orchards in the Chelan and Wenatchee areas. Later he purchased his own orchard at Manson. Paul was a member of Ninth Street Skookum in it's early years and then later a grower for Manson Growers Corp. He also served as a volunteer fireman in Chelan at one time. At 92, with his faithful dog Katie by his side, he was still speculating on the varieties of apple trees he would plant "next year". Survivors include a son, Gary Wilson of Yakima; a brother, Col. Harold H. Wilson Ret. of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister, Carol M. Smith of East Wenatchee; one granddaughter, Jodi Pendoza of Yakima; a nephew, Jeffrey Smith of East Wenatchee; a niece, Joann Brown of Salt Lake City, UT; and four great-grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Robison; and his father, Tom Wilson. Private Family Services are planned. Memorials may be made to The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society.
