Description	:	The Sterling Sun Thursday, October 26, 1944 Paul William Pohlenz, Johnson county pioneer, was born in Waskaw county, Wis., on Nov. 28, 1860, the son of Christian and Caroline Pohlenz and died Oct. 16th 1944, in the hospital at Tecumseh, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 19 days. Mr. Pohlenz came with his parents to Nebraska in 1867. He was married to Lida Kleen of Vesta, Nebr., on May 28, 1883, at Tecumseh. Mr. Pohlenz came with his parents to Nebraska in 1867. He was married to Lida Kleen of Vesta, Nebr., on May 28, 1883, at Tecumseh. Five sons and a daughter were born to this marriage, one son dying in infancy. Mrs. Pohlenz died Nov. 28, 1895. On March 15, 1921, Mr. Pohlenz was wed to Miss Ella Stindt who survives him. One of the earliest settlers near Sterling, Neb., Mr. Pohlenz was believed to be Johnson county's oldest continuous resident. Besides his wife, survivors are fours sons, George, Alma, Nebr., Chris P., Lincoln, Peter Paul, Tecumseh, and Fred Will, Loveland, Colo., a daughter, Mrs. Edith Hackler, Naponee, Nebr.; two sisters, Mrs. August Zink, Rapid City, S. D., and Mrs. Mary Keim, Tecumseh; two brothers, Edward Sterling, and August, Argonia, Kas. Fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the farm home for relatives and close friends and at the Lutheran church south of Sterling. Interment was in the family plot in the Lutheran churchyard.
