Mr. Johnson was born August 13, 1939 in Horry County, a son of the late Ralph Z. and Mary Ann Coates Johnson. He was a retired farmer, who was well known for his straight rows in his tobacco field. Mr. Paul Zebedee Johnson, 76, husband of Linda Watts Johnson, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at his residence after an illness, surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Johnson was born August 13, 1939 in Horry County, a son of the late Ralph Z. and Mary Ann Coates Johnson. He was a retired farmer, who was well known for his straight rows in his tobacco field. Mr. Johnson was 19 years old when his father passed away and being the oldest of his siblings, he helped his mother farm and raise his brothers and sisters and in doing so he became a father figure to many of his family. Surviving Mr. Johnson in addition to his wife of 55 years and of the home are: his Daughter: Paula Gayle (Mark Robert) Swisher of Speedwell, TN; 2 Brothers: Aubrey (Marcia) Johnson of Nichols and Dennis F. (Cathy) Johnson of Nichols; 3 Sisters: Corine Mincey, Juanita Johnson and Wanda (Wrenn) Strickland, all of Nichols; several nieces and nephews; and his Kitty: Nancy. Mr. Johnson was predeceased by 3 sisters, Edna Lilly, Helen Gerrald and Betty Gerald.. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July20 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home in Mullins, with Rev. Paul Alford officiating. Burial will follow in Happy Home Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Lower Cape Fear Mercy Care Hospice, and especially Joanna and Roxie, for their love and care for Mr. Johnson during his illness.
