Description	:	BRYSON CITY - Pauline Battle Gunter, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, in a Swain County health care facility. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Bennett and Marie Hall Battle. Mrs. Gunter was a graduate of Swain County High School. She was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Pembroke State University in Pembroke. She received an M.A. in indian studies at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz. Read More	BRYSON CITY - Pauline Battle Gunter, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, in a Swain County health care facility. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Bennett and Marie Hall Battle. Mrs. Gunter was a graduate of Swain County High School. She was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Pembroke State University in Pembroke. She received an M.A. in indian studies at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz. Having taught in elementary schools, Mrs. Gunter retired from teaching and had lived for the last 14 years in Bryson City. She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Oliver of Rome, Italy; two sons, Mark Lee Gunter and Darryl Gunter, both of Clear Lake Shores, Texas; two sisters, Jessie Willis of Winston-Salem and Mary Lou Parrish of Hickory; two brothers, Wayne Battle of Bryson City and Hall Battle of Pensacola, Fla.; and one grandchild, D'Esta Sheree Singer of Houston, Texas. The funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. Friday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bryson City. Burial will be in Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
