Description	:	From Kotrba/Smith Funeral Home: Pauline (Bruce) Rotter was born January 5, 1919, to Robert and Alice (Sufficool) Bruce, at their home in Dallas, SD, the seventh of thirteen children. She attended school in Dallas and graduated from Dallas High School in 1937 the Valedictorian of her class. Pauline met her future husband Herman Rotter while teaching at a school northeast of Paxton. Dating for a while, they were married on July 26, 1943 in Butte, NE. She attended school in Dallas and graduated from Dallas High School in 1937 the Valedictorian of her class. Pauline met her future husband Herman Rotter while teaching at a school northeast of Paxton. Dating for a while, they were married on July 26, 1943 in Butte, NE. To this union four children were born: Gerald, John, Michael, and Kenneth. The couple rented farms in the Carlock and Paxton areas before they bought their own in 1955. Pauline remained on the farm until she was 95 years old. She lost her mobility and her sons could no longer care for her at home. Pauline entered Avera Rosebud Country Care Center in January of 2014 where she passed away on March 8, 2020, at the age of 101. She is survived by her children: Gerald, John, and Kenneth Rotter all of rural Dallas, one brother Richard Bruce, two sisters Jean and Shirley, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Michael in a car accident in 1972, her husband Herman in 1983, brothers Ray, Jim, John, Robert and Bill Bruce, sisters Betty, Nellie, Buellah, and Lucille.
