Memorials are directed to a memorial of choice, the Lutheran Hour or Lutheran High Northeast. Pauline was born on Sept. 2, 1908, at Battle Creek, the daughter of Charles and Katie (Praeuner) Heggemeyer. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church. In 1910, she moved with her parents to Tilden where she attended school and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. After graduation from high school she worked as a telephone switchboard operator and was enrolled in nurse's training at the Lutheran Hospital in Norfolk. After one year of nurse's training, she moved to California where she worked for a doctor at a children's clinic in Santa Ana where she worked until her retirement. Pauline was married to Chapman Lantz of Garden Grove, Calif. After her retirement she was a volunteer at Walnut Manor, a senior apartment complex and care center in Garden Grove. In 1975, her husband passed away. She continued to live in Garden Grove and continued working at Walnut Manor where she was in charge of the store and gift shop. In 1995, she moved to the senior apartments in Tilden, and in 1999 she moved to Community Pride Care Center. Pauline is survived by one stepdaughter, Katrina Lutge of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., one stepson, Charles C. Lantz of New York City, N.Y., one brother, Vic Heggemeyer of Norfolk, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and five sisters.
