PAULINE HIEKE, 78, SUMMONED BY DEATH Sickness of Ten Weeks Results in Death for Pioneer Woman of this City Sickness of 10 weeks resulted in the death of Pauline Hieke at her home at 315 Third Avenue S. E. Thursday. Mrs. Hieke was 78 years, three months and 3 days of age at the time of her death. Deceased was born in the Province of Silesia, Austria on July 8, 1850 and was an old settler of this county, living in Stanton Township for many years. She came to this country at an early age. Mrs. Hieke has been living in this city for about 15 years. Her husband passed away 28 years ago. The funeral was held this morning at 10 o'clock from St. Joseph's church, Msgr. W. A. Pape officiating. Burial was made in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Lukens had charge of the funeral. She leaves to mourn her loss five children. Two children preceded their mother in death. The children who mourn her death are: Mrs. Val Sitzmann Kingsley, Albert Hieke, Leeds; Mrs. Nick Wilhelm, Le Mars; Mrs. Fred Schultz, Merrill; Miss Theresa Hieke living at home. Mrs. Hieke was a well known pioneer of this country, living here for 60 years. She was a good member of St. Joseph's church and has many friends who join with the relatives in mourning her loss.
