Pauline (Hildreth) Maisel was born on May 1st, but because the doctor didn't go to the court house till May 8th her birthdate is known to be May 8, 1916 in Colo, IA to Franklin Gale and Lena Minnie (Reingardt) Etnier. There she met Bill Maisel. The following... Read More	Pauline Maisel, age 98, of Hubbard, IA, died on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, IA. Pauline (Hildreth) Maisel was born on May 1st, but because the doctor didn't go to the court house till May 8th her birthdate is known to be May 8, 1916 in Colo, IA to Franklin Gale and Lena Minnie (Reingardt) Etnier. She grew up on the farm and attended Colo Public School graduating with the Class of 1933. In 1935, she moved to Hubbard, IA doing housework for Gusta and William Hoelscher. There she met Bill Maisel. The following year, her family attended a Golden Anniversary party for her Aunt Clara and Uncle Nate Eibert at Cooksville, IL. There on November 27, 1936, she was married to William C. Maisel at the Saybrook Methodist Parsonage by Rev. Samuel Buck. They moved to a farm south of Hubbard March 1, 1937. One son, Lavern William Maisel was born May 7, 1938, to them. Then on March 1, 1950, they moved to the home place when Bill’s parents moved to town. On August 3, 1963, they again moved to the Hoelscher place in town taking with them their “lawn mower business”. It was moved into an old barn converted to a shop. She was his constant helper along his side, handling the books, taking care of a large garden and flowers. They traveled many years going south to Texas and Florida for the winters until they sold their Florida home in 2004. She joined the Salem United Methodist Church and was a long time member having served on several committees. Also was a member of the Band Mothers. She never had a doll as a child and started collecting all kinds of dolls in the later years, making clothes for those that needed them; numbers totaled over 1,200! While they were gone the winter of 2004, Judy designed a room for her collections to surprise her. She enjoyed showing them to many friends, clubs and neighbors. Other collections were beautiful Tea Pots, Teddy Bears and Lanterns. Death came to Pauline, Sunday morning, March 8, 2015. Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Lavern and his wife Judy; two grandsons Mitchel and Brett of Hubbard; her sister Alice Lageschulte of Waverly, IA; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and four sisters.
