Description	:	Mrs. Pauline LeRoy French died late Saturday afternoon at her home, "Mapleshade," on Red Cross avenue, after a brief illness. She had been in poor health several months, but had been able to be about during the past summer until a short time ago, when her illness assumed a serious nature. She had been in poor health several months, but had been able to be about during the past summer until a short time ago, when her illness assumed a serious nature. The deceased was well known in Newport, having been a resident here for many years, her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Stuyvesant LeRoy owning a cottage on Mann avenue, where they lived generally throughout the year. For many years she spent the summer with her mother at her cottage on Red Cross avenue, and after the latter's death three years ago, continued to come here for the season. She is survived by three sons, Messrs. Frank French, Stuyvesant LeRoy French and Amos Tuck French, Jr., of New York, and two daughters, Mrs. Donald O. MacRae of New York and Mrs. Howard T. Williams of Waban(?), Mass. A brother, Mr. Stuyvesant LeRoy, had made his home in Paris for several years. Mrs. French was a member of one of the oldest and most distinguished families of New York, being a descendant of Peter Stuyvesant and Nicholas Fish. Her grandfather was Daniel LeRoy, who married a sister of Edward King, and she was a cousin of Mrs. John Nicolas Brown, Mrs. Peter Goelct(?) Gerry, Mrs. George Grenville Mer??? and Countess Romain d'Osmoy of Normandy, France, and also a cousin of the late LeRoy King and the late George Gordon King. September 28, 1928; Page Two. ------------------- Final rites for Mrs. LeRoy French were paid Tuesday at St. John's Church, when many of the late-staying summer colonists gathered to pay their respects. The service was conducted by Rev. Julian D. Hamlin, the rector, assisted by Rev. William L. Phillips of Plainfield, N.J.. Messrs LeRoy King and Edmund Grindel were ushers. Following the casket, which was covered with a pall of orchids, Easter lilies and lilies of the valley, were members of the immediate family, including Mr. and Mrs. Frank French, Mr. and Mrs Donald O. MacRae, Mrs. Howard T. Williams, and Messrs. Stuyvesant LeRoy French and Amos Tuck French, Jr., sons and Mr. Stuyvesant LeRoy, a brother. Following them came the cousins, Mrs. J. Nicholas Brown and Her son, Mr. John Nicholas Brown; Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy King, Mr. and Mrs. Louis B. McCagg, together with Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Grinnell and Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Fish Webster, followed by the servants. Among those noted in the church were Mrs. Paul Fitz Simons, Mrs. Harold Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius H. Tangeman, Mr. and Mrs. Charles F.P. Richardson, Miss Anne Stuyvesant, Mrs. Daniel B. Fearing, Mrs. W. Watts Sherman, Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Oelrichs, Mrs. T. Shaw Safe, Dr. and Mrs. Henry Barton Jacobs, Miss Lucille R. Edgar, Miss Rosa Anna Grosvenor, Mrs. Paul Andrews, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moran and Colonel Joseph H. Willard, the Misses Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick H. Allen, Miss Emma G. Stone, Mrs S. M. Neill, Miss Edith Wetmore, Mrs Gustave J.S. White, Mrs. James Varnum, Miss Amy Varnum, Mrs. Joeph Harriman, and Messrs. William Fahnestock, Shafter Howard, Robert Porter and Henry B. Livingston.
