Description	:	Love Worrell Cox, 99, died peacefully Monday, September 7, 2015, at her home in Hillsville. She was born January 23, 1916, in Sylvatus, Virginia, to Aaron Perry Worrell and Bertha Cooley Worrell, and was the third of six children. Mrs. Cox attended high school school in Coal Creek, Virginia, and graduated from Radford College. She taught elementary school in Carroll County for over twenty years before assuming the position of Director of Social Services for Carroll County. She retired from the latter in 1983. Read More	Love Worrell Cox, 99, died peacefully Monday, September 7, 2015, at her home in Hillsville. She was born January 23, 1916, in Sylvatus, Virginia, to Aaron Perry Worrell and Bertha Cooley Worrell, and was the third of six children. Mrs. Cox attended high school school in Coal Creek, Virginia, and graduated from Radford College. She taught elementary school in Carroll County for over twenty years before assuming the position of Director of Social Services for Carroll County. She retired from the latter in 1983. Active in many community groups, Mrs. Cox dearly loved her county and her state. Helping the citizens of Carroll County was a priority for her whether it was through her work with social services or helping to found the Carroll County Public library. Alvin Cox, Jr. and Love Worrell married on June 19, 1946, and became the parents of three children, Larry, Richard and Julia. They raised their family in Hillsville where both were teachers in the county school system. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Cox, Jr., sisters Hope who died in infancy, Faith W. Stahl and Joy W. Hawks (118477057). Her brothers, Herbert Worrell and Rufus Worrell both lost their lives in World War II. She is survived by her children, Dr. Larry H. Cox (Suzanne Ray), Richard A. Cox (Sue Tugwell), and Julia (John) Grizzell . Seven grandchildren survive Mrs. Cox: Sarah Cox Bingley and husband, Sid, Justin Cox and wife Lisa, Matthew Cox and wife Sarah , Andrew Cox and wife, Deanna, Julie Cox Carpenter and husband, Jason, Kate Grizzell and Ginny Grizzell Workman and husband, Jake. Eight great-grandchildren also survive. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 26, at Hillsville Presbyterian Church followed by a memorial service at the church. Reverend Kevin Campbell will officiate. Mrs. Cox will be buried in a private family service immediately prior to the receiving of friends at the church. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
