Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden with the Rev. Dr. Berke Landrum officiating. Burial will be at Minden Cemetery. Read More	Ex-Minden resident, 91 SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. — Pauline Strand, 91, of Sun City West, Ariz., a longtime Minden, Neb., resident, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, in Sun City West. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden with the Rev. Dr. Berke Landrum officiating. Burial will be at Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden. She was born on Sept. 23, 1913, in Minden to Carl and Mary (Porter) Holmes. On July 4, 1937, she married Collins Strand. He died in 1989. Survivors include her son, Dick of Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter, Carol Krebs of Minnesota; and brother, Howard Holmes of Northridge, Calif. Additional survivors include her daughter-in-law, Naomi; son-in-law Don Krebs; grandchildren, Erin and Laura Krebs and Nick, Natalie and Lincoln; great-granddaughter, Izzy Krebs; and many relatives and friends. She grew up in Minden and graduated from Minden High School with the class of 1931. She was honored to be the valedictorian of that class. Her husband was a dentist. They raised a family and made their home in Minden. Her husband was greatly missed after his death. She loved Minden and loved promoting The Christmas City, Pioneer Village and the Opera House. She was active in P.E.O., the Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star, and longstanding bridge and birthday clubs. After her husband retired, they enjoyed spending winters in Sun City West. After hip surgeries in 2003, she was unable to return to Minden, but it was always home. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Gwen and Betty June. Memorials may be made to the Minden Opera House, Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden or Shepherd of the Hills Methodist Church in Sun City West.
