She was born October 19, 1933 on the family farm in Clay County, Kansas the daughter of Alden Eugene and Beulah Edith (Bass) Alexander. In 1939, the family moved to Abilene. Growing up in Abilene, Pauline attended local schools and graduated valedictorian of the Abilene High School class of 1951. On December 6, 1953, she was married to Lyle Eugene Diehl. They resided on a farm south of Chapman, Kansas. To this union were born three children, Daniel Eugene Diehl, Donald Wayne Diehl and Deborah Alice Diehl. This marriage dissolved in 1981. On May 8, 1982, Pauline was united in marriage to Bert J. Wilson. Shortly after their marriage, they moved from Chapman, Kansas to a farm north of Solomon, Kansas where they engaged in farming and the management of rental properties in Salina, Kansas. He preceded her in death December 31, 2012.Pauline accepted Christ as her savior in her sixteenth year at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Abilene, Kansas. After moving to rural route #1, Chapman, Kansas, she became a member of and was very active in the First Baptist Church, Enterprise, Kansas. She served as church clerk for 22 years, Sunday School teacher for 20 years and youth leader for 16 years. Upon moving to rural route #1, Solomon, Kansas, Pauline became a member of the First Christian Church, Abilene, Kansas. And in August 1991 transferred her membership to the Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Abilene. From 1952 to 1972, Pauline worked in Abilene as a legal secretary for the Royer Law office. From 1972 to 1987, she worked in the office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Fort Riley, Kansas as the chief claims examiner for the U.S. Army. From 1973 through 1975 she attended classes at Kansas State University to further her education.Pauline was a member and officer of the Progressive E.H.U., Women of the Moose, the Appaloosa Horse Club Association and the Midwestern Polka Club of America. Pauline and Bert served as royalty of the Polka Club of America in 1990 – 1991. She earned the Danforth Foundation Scholastic Award, the Reader’s Digest Scholastic Award, fourteen outstanding and superior performance awards from the U.S. Army and a U.S. Army Suggestion Award from President Jimmy Carter.Pauline’s main interests were her family and her church, taking an active interest in each. She never tired of having large family dinners so family members could spend more time with each other. She enjoyed sewing and making crafts, gardening, reading, raising horses and attending all the activities in which her children and grandchildren were involved. She enjoyed writing poetry and leaves behind many poems for her family to enjoy.Pauline was also preceded in death by her father, Alden Alexander, on August 24, 1968, mother Beulah Alexander on June 10, 1994, her brothers Paul Eugene Alexander on April 23, 1975 and Dale Alexander Aug 24, 2009, and her daughter-in-law Betty Ann Kirn Diehl on August 20, 1982. She leaves surviving her, three children, Daniel E. Diehl and his wife Karman of Wichita, Kansas, Donald W. Diehl and his wife Linda of Abilene, Kansas and Dr. Deborah Alice Diehl-Nelson and her husband Timothy of Chapman, Kansas, her three step-children, Richard Wilson and his wife Laura of Abilene, Kansas, Daniel Wilson and David Wilson both of Norfolk, VA; one brother, Dallas Alexander and wife Irene of Mims, Florida; and her beloved grandchildren; Granddaughters, Marci Ann Diehl Smith of Wichita, Nicole Elaina Diehl Klieman of New Jersey and Desiree’ Rose Diehl of Great Bend, Kansas, Kaitlynn Alice Nelson of Kansas City, KS, Michelle Diehl Windon of Manhattan, KS; her Grandsons, Michael Morrison Diehl of Chapman, and Justin Jacob Diehl Nelson of Chapman, six great grandchildren, fourteen step-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of friends.Services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, May 22nd, at the Abilene Emmanuel United Methodist Church with Pastor Shane Britt officiating. Interment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:30 – 6:30 PM Thursday, May 21st, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made to the Abilene Emmanuel United Methodist Church or the Enterprise First Baptist Church.
