She was born Nov. 4, 1918, near Smithfield to Justin K. and Nora Belle Hibbs Floyd. She was known to friends and family as "Ruby." She attended the Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, graduating in 1937. She graduated from Kearney Normal School in 1941 with a bachelor's degree in education. Read More	Daughter of Justin & Nora Floyd. ------------------------ Pauline "Ruby" Floyd, 85, died Jan. 30, 2004, at Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Curtis. She was born Nov. 4, 1918, near Smithfield to Justin K. and Nora Belle Hibbs Floyd. She was known to friends and family as "Ruby." She attended the Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, graduating in 1937. She graduated from Kearney Normal School in 1941 with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught high school home economics, English and business courses in Campbell, Bushnell and Craig, Colo., for 16 years. She received her Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Denver in 1959. She taught at Denver Adventist High School from 1955 to 1960. She retired from teaching in 1960 and moved to Curtis to live with her mother. Miss Floyd was active in Poet's Societies and volunteer activities, was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for most of her adult life. She moved to Sunset Haven Nursing Home Feb. 7, 1997. She was an accomplished pianist and singer and played violin in high school and college. She performed with the Curtis Easter Pageant for many years. She will be remembered for her integrity, character, intellect, generosity, pleasant nature and her joy of life. Survivors include a brother, Justin (Sally) Floyd of Hayes Center; three nephews, Roger (Loretta) Floyd of Hayes Center, Randy (Elaine) Floyd of Eugene, Ore., and Raymond (Marjory) Floyd of Cheyenne, Wyo.; seven great-nieces and nephews; and seven great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-nephew, Thomas Floyd. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Curtis with the Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery.
