Indiana 14, Kewanna, died at 12:03 a.m. Saturday at Miller's Merry Manor nursing home, Culver, where she resided the past four years. Born in Lake County, near Gary, she was the daughter of Albert and Bertha Fear Jana. She lived in the Fulton County area since 1947, when she moved from Knox. On March 29, 1947, in Hammond, she married Alvin "Sonny" R. Cowles. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1985. A homemaker, she was a member of Kewanna United Methodist Church, Reiter Club and had been active in the Kewanna Mother's Club. Her most cherished times were those spent with her family; she particularly loved the times she shared with her grandchildren. Survivors include her special companion, Darrell McFadden, Winamac; one daughter, Connie Overmyer and husband Don, Kewanna; two sons, Donald and wife Maxine Cowles, Rochester, and Robert L. Cowles, Winamac; five grandchildren, Todd Good and wife Stephanie, Fredericksburg, Va., Kim McLendon and husband Andrew, Jamestown, Troy Cowles and wife Sonya, Kewanna; Kandy Morris and husband Mike, Peru, and Randy Overmyer, Leiters Ford (Rochester); eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; one brother, Virgil Jana and wife Ellen, Rochester; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and great-grandson, Sammy Overmyer, on June 7, 1995. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Indiana 14 West, Rochester, with Rev. Junior Bose officiating. Burial will be at Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
