She was born on October 11, 1922, in Rushville, Nebraska to Victor and Irene Boeck. She was married to Gerald J. Bean on December 11, 1945. Gerald preceded Pearl in death in 2004. Bean died peacefully on Sunday, December 18, at Briar Hill Assisted Living Facility in Middlefield. She was born on October 11, 1922, in Rushville, Nebraska to Victor and Irene Boeck. She was married to Gerald J. Bean on December 11, 1945. Gerald preceded Pearl in death in 2004. They are together again at long last. Pearl and Gerald were lifelong residents of Hartsgrove, the center of their civic and family life. Pearl was a board member and congregant of Hartsgrove Community Church, where she played piano nearly every Sunday for over 60 years. Music was her muse, and it gave her great joy to teach piano to her many students. Pearl had a zest for life-long learning and the pursuit of knowledge. No conversation was long enough or deep enough to satisfy – Pearl always wanted to know one’s story. Family meant the world to Pearl, and she is survived by her children Gerald J. Bean, Jr. (Kim) of Columbus and Jennifer Landis (Gary) of Warren; grandchildren Candace (Gerry) McGovern of Orwell, Michael (Dawn Johnston) Adams, of Austinburg, Leslie Bean and Elizabeth Bean of Columbus, great grandchildren Lindsey Adams of Norfolk, Virginia, Megan Adams of Austinburg, Chandler Verhas, Michael McGovern and Maggie McGovern of Orwell and many nieces and nephews. Pearl was also preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Irene Boeck, and her loving stepfather, Wilkey Thomas and her sister, Madge Fortune Chicoine. Funeral Services officiated by Rev. Robert Leonard were held on Wednesday, December 21 at Hartsgrove Community Church, 5260 U.S. Route 6, Rome. Donations may be made to Hartsgrove Community Church. Arrangements handled by Paine Funeral Home, Inc., Orwell. Condolences may be made at painefuneralhome.com. GERALD J. BEAN HARTSGROVE - Gerald J. Bean, 84, a lifetime resident of Hartsgrove, died quietly at home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 16, 2004. He was born in Hartsgrove on June 19, 1919. Mr. Bean was a proud member of the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He bravely participated in three major W.W. II campaigns; The Normandy Invasion, Ardennes (The Battle of the Bulge), and Operation Varsity (The Final Invasion of Germany). He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and was discharged on September 26, 1945. Upon his return from the service, he married Pearl Boeck of Rushville, NE, with whom he shared a wonderful marriage for 58 years. Gerald was a gentle soul who loved nature, loved gardening, loved sports, and loved to laugh. He is survived by his wife, Pearl; son, Gerald Jr. (Kim); daughter, Jennifer Landis (Gary); grandchildren, Michael Adams (Dawn Johnson), Candace McGovern (Gerry), Leslie Bean, and Elizabeth Bean; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Adams, Megan Adams, Chandler Verhas, and Michael McGovern; and many nieces and nephews. Friends many call on the family from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at the PAINE - GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 140 East Main Street, Orwell, OH. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. at the Hartsgrove Community Church on Wednesday, January 21, 2004. Interment will be in the Hartsgrove Center Cemetery.
