Jones of R.R.1, died at 10 o'clock Tuesday night at Mt. Carmel hospital. She underwent an operation about a week before for appendicitis. Born at Columbus on October 24, 1887, Mrs. Jones had lived all her life in this district. She had lived in Columbus and Scammon and during the past 31 years she had lived in Cherokee and vicinity. She was a member of the Latter Day Saints church and took a very active part in its activities. Mrs. Jones was a very active woman, taking part in everything that was for the good of her community. Besides being a great church worker she was a member of the Sunflower Club, the Woman's Literature Club and the City Federation, and last year was president of the latter. She always had an answer and a smile which endeared her to all. She will be greatly missed. Besides the widower, the survivors include the mother, Mrs. Mattie Conner, two sons, Maurice Jones of Wichita and John H. Jones of Mulvane, Kas.; two daughters, Mrs. Marian Summers of Independence, Mo., and Mrs. Maurine Crownover of Cushing, Okla.; two brothers, W.H. Peck of Pleasanton and Ralph T. Peck of San Diego, Calif., and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Latter Day F.M. McDowell of Independence, Mo. officiating. Interment was in the Cherokee cemetery.
