Pearl was born April 11, 1901 in Elbow Lake, MN, daughter of Peter Ludwig and Minnie (Torgerson) Johnson. She married Rev. John W. Schindler, an Evangelical United Brethren minister from McClusky, ND on Jan. 1 1938. Their only child, Sharon Lynn Schindler, was born Aug, 26, 1941, in Grand Forks, ND. Pearl graduated from Anderson University, Anderson, IN, and was an ordained minister, Church of God. She served as a children's camp director for 20 years in the Dakotas and as a director for the National Office of the Church of God Children's Division. John and Pearl served EUB and United Methodist churches in North and South Dakota and Minnesota, with John also serving as District Superintendent in Bismarck, ND and Aberdeen, SD. She was honored as a "Valiant Woman" by Church Women United. In their retirement years, John and Pearl moved to Cheshire, CT in 1985 to be closer to their daughter and family. Pearl was a woman of gracious character and integrity. She was a gifted educator and deeply committed to her Christian faith. She was survived by her husband; daughter and son-in-law; two grandchildren; one brother, Harry Johnson, Tucson, AZ; four sisters, Myrtle Snyder, Melita, Manitoba; Nettie Washburn, Grand Forks ND; Lily Granstad, Tucson, AZ; and Bernice Unger, Anderson, IN.
