Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Madrid, with burial at Hillsdale Cemetery, east of Madrid. Pearl was born the daughter of Menes and Selma Anderson Olson on June 7, 1907, in Madrid, IA. She married Millard C. Johnson in 1927. Pearl taught education at the former Luther School and the Madrid Elementary School for more than 20 years, until retiring in 1972. She was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was confirmed in 1922. She is survived by her son, Dr. Eugene L. Johnson and his wife Marguerite of LeClaire, IA; her daughter, Arlene R. Hansen and her husband Glenn of Walnut, IL; one brother, Edmond Olson; one sister, Irma Ringgenberg both of Madrid; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home, in Madrid, where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either: St. John's Lutheran Church, the Madrid Home, the Madrid Public Library, or the Madrid Elementary School Library.
