Davenport Times - Tribune February 26, 1942 Mrs. McClure Funeral Sunday - Bald Ridge Woman Passes Away in Spokane Hospital February 18. Coming as a shock to this community was the news Wednesday evening of last week that Mrs. Pearl McClure, age 52, native of this area, and a resident of the Mondovi district all of her life, had passed away at the Deaconess Hospital in Spokane. She had been ailing for more than a year, and was in the hospital for extended periods at various intervals. Several weeks ago she suffered a stroke, but seemed to come through it without too serious effects. She was in the hospital for a time, then was brought home, and finally had to be taken back on February 15, never rallying. Funeral Held Sunday. Funeral services for Mrs. McClure were held at the Presbyterian church in Davenport Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The church was crowded with friends and relatives of the beloved matron, including scores of out-of-town persons. About 75 Eastern Stars attended the service. The floral remembrances were numerous and particularly beautiful. The Rev. H. A. Winkle; pastor of the Central Christian church in Spokane, of which Mrs. McClure had been a member, gave the principal address at the service. He was assisted by the Rev. Lee E. Knoll, Presbyterian pastor, and the Rev. J. E. Hastings, Christian pastor, of Davenport. The Bumgarner Funeral Home of Davenport was in charge of the service. Music at the service included a vocal solo by Mrs. Elijah Huffman, and Mrs. Albert Zelimer, and a vocal solo by Mrs. W. J. Colville of Reardan. Miss Mabel Inkster was accompanist. Interment at Mondovi. Interment was in the cemetery at Mondovi, with the Davenport Eastern Star Chapter in charge. Pall bearers, all present or former neighbors of Mrs. McClure, were G. C. Littell, Vernet McClure, Joseph Wynecoop, Mondovi, William Kirkwood, Davenport, Henry Altmeyer, Spokane, and Thomas Plummer, Reardan. Mrs. McClure was born in the Mondovi area, September 22, 1889. She was married to James H. McClure on December 25, 1912, and they spent all of their married life on a farm in the Bald Ridge community. She is survived by her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George E. Smith of Mondovi, one sister, Mrs. Ella Delmage of Sprague, one brother, Harry Smith, of Mondovi, and several nephews and nieces. She was a member and a past worthy matron of the Davenport Eastern Star Chapter, and an active worker in the Eastern Star Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Mondovi Grange, held various offices in it, and was one of its most active workers. She was prominet in club and church work in the Mondovi community for many years.
