The inquest followed rapidly on the discovery of the body of Mrs. Evans in their apartment in the Sunburst hotel and of Evans, still alive, but bleeding badly from self-imposed cuts inflicted by suicide attempts. No definite cause for the murder has been determined, other than it was thought the act was commitied during a fit of jealousy. Rumors were to the effect that a divorce was about to be instituted by the victim. Sheriff Dunstall reported that some of her clothing and personal effects had been packed as though she might be going to leave. Both parties worked at the Texaco refinery in Sunburst. The couple had been married but a little over one month. Mrs. Evans was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Ashworth and was 20 years of age. Evans was about 30.
