Description	:	Pearl Lucinda Shepard, 100, died May 3, 2008, in Goldendale. She was born on Nov. 23, 1907, in Vancouver, the daughter of Matilda and James Shepard. After losing her mother, a sister and two brothers, Pearl came to Klickitat County with her father from Stevenson, in 1915. Read More	Pearl Lucinda Shepard, 100, died May 3, 2008, in Goldendale. She was born on Nov. 23, 1907, in Vancouver, the daughter of Matilda and James Shepard. After losing her mother, a sister and two brothers, Pearl came to Klickitat County with her father from Stevenson, in 1915. Soon after, her father remarried and they moved to their new home, now known as the Presby Home or Museum. She lived there until after her father's death when she sold the property to the Klickitat County Historical Society. After selling the Presby home she purchased her home on Main Street. She dearly loved her little home and loved to entertain friends there. Pearl was educated in the Goldendale schools. After graduating high school, she went on to Central Washington College of Education in Ellensburg and returned to Goldendale, where she taught second grade for 40 years. She was an active member of the community and was a member of the United Methodist Church, where she served as librarian for many years; a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Rebekah, Lodge and was once a representative of the Goldendale Federated Women's Club, a civic organization that helps the community and schools. She was chosen Soroptimist Woman of the Year for her accomplishments and outstanding service to the community. Pearl shared her car by providing transportation for older people who were unable to drive or for people who were shut in and unable to get out on their own. Survivors include Mary and Clinton Cosner of Centerville, and Frances Cooper of Toppenish, and also several cousins in Oregon.
