Pearl grew to womanhood in the place of her birth. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Onslow several years ago. Tracy, was born at Onslow, Iowa, April 7, 1890. She was one of four children. Pearl grew to womanhood in the place of her birth. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Onslow several years ago. She spent some time away from home and wherever she chose to live and serve, was known as a faithful and conscientious young woman. October 17, 1918 she was united in marriage to Amos H. Appleby of Anamosa, Iowa. They made their home in Anamosa where she was recognized as a good neighbor, a kind friend and faithful wife. Her church membership was transferred to the Methodist Episcopal church at Anamosa. She was a faithful member and will be missed from the religious gatherings. As an active member of the Aid Society she served most faithfully and the officers and members of this society recall her willing spirit and generous help. Mrs. Appleby became ill, Saturday, January 24, and the physician pronounced the malady Spanish Influenza. After about five days, pneumonia developed and death came Saturday about midnight. She is survived by her husband, father and mother, two sisters, Mrs. Leigher, of Onslow, and Ida and one brother, George living with the parents. The body was brought to Onslow on the morning train and a funeral service was conducted in the Methodist church at Onslow at 2 p.m. Monday, February 2nd, by Rev. Jesse Smith. Rev. Edward Lang, of Anamosa, assisting by preaching the sermon. Burial took place at South Mineral. The relatives have the sympathy of friends in each community where this good woman was known.
