She was born August 17, 1915, at Mound Valley, Kansas, the daughter of Nathan and Lou Anna Peters. Following graduation from labeytte County High School in 1933, she move to Cheyenne, WY. She was born August 17, 1915, at Mound Valley, Kansas, the daughter of Nathan and Lou Anna Peters. Following graduation from labeytte County High School in 1933, she move to Cheyenne, WY. She married Elton Dean Kirkpatrick in Cheyenne, Wyoming. While in Cheyenne, she worked for United Airlines and the Wyoming State Department of Highways. The family then relocated to Crown Point, IN, before moving to Tucson, Safford, and Tempe, AZ. In addtion to being a homemaker and mother, she worked in the registrar's office at Arizona State University, and later at the registrar's office at Mesa Community College in AZ. Upon her marriage to Paul Alvin Nelson in 1973, she moved to Chanute, KS. He preceded her in death, March 4, 2003. She worked in the administrative offices of Neosho County Memorial Hospital until retirement. Upon the death of her husband, Paul Nelson, she relocated to Colorado Springs. She is survived by daughter, Kathy Ann (Raymond) Bell of Colorado Springs, CO; son Robert Vernon Kirkpatrick of Phoenix, AZ; son Thomas Lee (Margaret Pruden) Kirpatrick of Arlington, MA, daughter, Laina (James) Savage of Prairie Village, KS, and daughter, Sonja Nelson of Moberly, MO; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be May 27, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church, Chanute, KS, the Rev. Daniel Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. in Chanute, Kansas. **********************
